"MISSION ROCKET" ๐๐, 40 DAYS???AND WHY SO......"Chandrayaan 3: India's Quest for Lunar Excellence Continues!
Chandrayaan 3, just an word but contains a lot a lot of feel!!!!
Moon's surface where Chandrayaan 3 has landed there for 14 days light is observe and for 14 days its completely dark. So now question is for this 14 days how Chandrayaan 3 is going to keep contact with ISRO. India became 4th nation to land on the surface of moon. But why no country was able to land its spacecraft on the South pole ???And why Apollo 11 required only 3 days and that of Chandrayaan 3 required 40 days.
14th July 2023 ,was the day when this golden mission was launched by ISRO and its final destination was to land on the south pole of moon . LUNA 2 was an 1st mission who got an soft landing on the surface of the moon in the year 1959 and mission was launched by the Sovet Union. Till now around 138 moon missions have been launched by 12 different countries. Now again the question is what India has done so far that India became an 1st country to land softly on the South pole???. And most difficult part here is the communication because if we see the south pole of moon is far and its curvature also blocks earth's view. There are high chances of loosing radio signals here.
7th Sep 2019 Chandrayaan's 2 Vikram Lander got separated from the orbitals to land on south pole of moon. Thrusters present has the work to slow down the speed. Everything was going according to the plan but when only 2100 meters were remaining to reach the south pole it looses its communication with ISRO๐๐.According to studies it was known that was an crash landing of Chandrayaan 2. On 28th Aug 2023 Russia send LUNA 25 to land on south pole , unfortunately LUNA 25 also had an crash landing.
Now the very obvious question arises is that if it is that hard to reach south pole so what the actual reason is to get there isn't it ???Yes in simple one word answers is "FUTURE SPACE MISSION" for any space mission it is very difficult to remove rocket from earth's gravity. Boosters are attached which produce extras lift for this process more fuel is been consumed. Around 5000 kg/sec fuel is been burn to lift the rocket. To make this hassle free scientist has an solution that why shouldn't we can establish base on a moon as gravity there is less so it would be easy to establish space mission from moon. And here shocking thing is only before 3 days of landing Russia's LUNA 25 had made an crash landing . Budget for same was around 200 million dollar.
Talking about most interesting part i.e. its design. It is divided into 2 parts:
1)Propulsion Module: Which took lander and rover towards moon's orbit.
2)Vikram Lander : From the moon's orbit the lander was been separated from the Propulsion model. It has 4 legs and has 4 landing thrusters attached to it. It is design for an soft landing.
There are 2 types of landing:
1) IMPACT LANDING : In this type of landing the speed can be control with the help of parachutes but too its landing is hard and can cause damage to the sensitive part. ISRO used this technique in Chandrayaan 1 but due to hard landing only after 315 days Chandrayaan 1 lost its connection with ISRO.
2)SOFT LANDING: In this process when lander reaches to the moon's surface lander opens up its Thrusters. Thrusters not only control's the speed but also helps in changing its direction.
Lots and lots of improvement where done in Chandrayaan 3 as compare to 1 & 2. The biggest change observe was Variable Thrust Engine were establish in Chandrayaan 3 which can control horizontal positions during landing. Leaving this one more change was observe that was installation of Laser Doppler Velocimeter (LDV) which can detect altitude through all the 3 direction. Vikram Lander is made so strong that instrument don't get damage during landing. Scientific instruments are toh present but one more unique element i.e. robotic rover is been observe inside the lander. This can do onsite experiments over the surface of moon. And if research is accurate then in no time India would become 1st country to land on South pole as well as to pursue some research.
Talking about launching Chandryaaan 3 was launched with the help of LVM3 rocket on 14 July 2023 from SATISH DHAWAN SPACE CENTRE. From 14th July to 1st Aug it was orbiting around earth which is called as "ORBIT RAISING PHASE" on 17th Aug Vikram Lander got separated from Propulsion model and got closer to moon. And on 23rd Aug when distance remaining was 30 km the Thrusters were on and breaking systems were activated when last 150 meters were remaining then for 30 sec Vikram Rover was being rover so that it can find some perfect, accurate spot to land. Then finally at 6:02 Vikram lander was landed on the South pole and marked the history.๐๐๐
Ahh it gives such an pleasure while writing this!!!! Wouldn't be much prouddd!!!!
But what the reason is that Apollo 11 took just 3 days and that of Chandrayaan took full 40 days to land on the moon???? Accordingly it was not like Chandrayaan would not reach earlier but its all about the priorities. Apollo 11 was an crewed mission. That was 1st spacecraft which was send with the humans inside the it. Here the priority was an soft landing of the crew on the moon. Therefore aircraft's Propulsion system was made so strong that it can achieve very high speed in very less time. On other hand in Chandrayaan no human was traveling it was send just for an important Research Mission whose priority was not to reach fast but was there for some scientific research.
After the successful landing now again question arises is if moon doesn't receive sunlight then how will Vikram lander and Pragyan rover will work as they are been fully operated by solar energy. On south pole there are around 14 days of sunlight and 14 days are completely dark/black days. Pragyan will lose its contact with ISRO but same will transfer information to the Vikram Lander and Vikram Lander will be in contact with ISRO. During this 14 dark days both devices will be less operated to same the energy! This mission will be continued till we don't get any relevant information & most important till this both the devices are in contact with the the ISRO!!...
"With Chandrayaan-3, India continues to make strides in lunar exploration, setting the stage for even greater discoveries in the cosmos."
Logging off for while will be back with some interesting more inventions super soon!!
To be continued !!!
Best Regards.✌๐๐
